Person-centred health management through access to their health data using EUDI Wallet services

The MyHealth@MyHands project aims to provide patients with direct access to their health data by integrating EUDI Wallet services into the European health ecosystem. By leveraging MyHealth@EU’s infrastructure, the project enhances cross-border interoperability and ensures that citizens can securely retrieve, manage, and share their electronic health records (EHRs) anytime, anywhere. This initiative directly supports the EU’s Digital Decade Policy Programme, which envisions universal access to electronic health records by 2030, promoting patient empowerment, digital inclusion, and better healthcare accessibility across Europe.

The project focuses on scaling up existing digital health solutions, aligning with previous EU-funded initiatives such as xShare, XpanDH, and Health-X dataLOFT, to create a unified, patient-centered health data management framework. A key component of MyHealth@MyHands is its emphasis on secure identification, authentication, and seamless integration with national health systems, ensuring compliance with European Health Data Space (EHDS) regulations while prioritizing user control and privacy.

  • The project enables citizens to securely access and share their health records using the European Digital Identity Wallet (EUDI Wallet). This ensures GDPR-compliant, user-controlled health data exchange, allowing for cross-border access to medical records and improved continuity of care.
  • By enhancing the MyHealth@EU infrastructure, the project supports standardized data exchange across national EHR systems. This ensures that healthcare providers can access critical patient information, improving care coordination and patient outcomes.
  • MyHealth@MyHands will be tested and deployed in 12 EU Member States, serving as a real-world validation for integrating EUDI Wallets with national healthcare systems. The adoption sites will evaluate data portability, usability, and technical feasibility.

GNOMON co-leads Work Package 5 (WP5), which is responsible for developing the core infrastructure that enables MyHealth@MyHands to integrate with MyHealth@EU and the EUDI Wallet. This involves designing a scalable and secure backend, ensuring seamless data exchange between national EHR systems and the EU Digital Identity framework. GNOMON contributes its expertise in eHealth infrastructure, data interoperability, and secure digital identity integration to build a system that supports cross-border health data access while maintaining GDPR compliance and patient control over their data.

Beyond infrastructure development, GNOMON plays a key role in ensuring the technical feasibility and sustainability of MyHealth@MyHands by collaborating with key stakeholders, including industry leaders, academic institutions and research organizations, focusing on building strategic alliances and wide adoption and long-term sustainability withing the EU ecosystem.
